Photography and Asbury Park have been a passion for Ed Noumair since he first learned how to operate a camera at Asbury Park High School. One of his first jobs was at the Asbury Park boardwalk photographing strolling tourists. Back then, the film needed to be developed and prints were made and sold for 25 cents.
After graduating from A.P.H.S. with the Class of ’39, Ed opened his photography business on Summerfield Avenue and continued to operate Noumair Studios until 1999. Sixty years, and thousands of negatives later, Ed Noumair will share for the first time his historic aerial photographs of Asbury Park and the surrounding coastal communities.
The Gallery 13 at the Shoppes at the Arcade, 658 Cookman Avenue, Suite 5, Asbury Park will showcase “Aerial Asbury” during the entire month of November. The opening receptions, where Ed will share his passion for photography and Asbury Park are Saturday, November 2, 6:00-9:00 during Asbury
Park’s First Saturday Celebration and Sunday November 3, 12:-5:00.
The aerial black and white photographs shot from a single engine propeller plane decades ago, reveal a historic view of Asbury’s famous boardwalk, buildings and hotels that no longer exist, parks and shoreline. The proceeds from this show will benefit the Asbury Park Historical Society.
Opening receptions: 11-2-13 @6:00-9:00 and 11-3-13@ 12-5:00
