"Ain't she sweet…" Those three simple words accompanied a photo of MOLLY RINGWALD on the May 26, 1986 cover of Time Magazine who called her the "fourth most popular teen of all time." She's all grown up now and audiences are discovering just how multi-talented she is.
Since her debut Jazz album entitled Except Sometimes was released on Concord Records, Ringwald and her talented Jazz Quartet have performed 200 concerts of AN EVENING WITH MOLLY RINGWALD in seven countries. But what many people may not realize is that this Broadway leading lady and icon of the 1980‘s has a bona fide classic jazz background: her father is blind jazz pianist Bob Ringwald.
This Mother’s Day you are in for a rare treat when Ringwald shares her sultry pipes during a special two-show evening of jazz standards at Asbury Park’s House of Independents. Show-stopping set tunes include “Just You, Just Me,” “Mean to Me,” and “Don’t You Forget About Me” from the seminal John Hughes classic The Breakfast Club to name just a few. On Broadway, audiences have embraced her as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, the Tony-nominated Enchanted April and the West End production of When Harry Met Sally. Off-Broadway, she received rave notices for her work in Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick… BOOM! and Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize winning production of How I Learned to Drive, and she has toured the country as Charity Hope Valentine in the Broadway National Tour of Sweet Charity. An actress of stage and screen, Ringwald earned a Golden Globe nomination at age thirteen, and went on to star in numerous films, including the iconic films Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink.
